NOB VALLEY SWIM CLUB WRAPS UP A TERRIFIC SEASON !
Although the NOB Valley Season is coming to an end, there are still three days left to enjoy the Club and to take part in some of the activities that have been planned to close up this very successful season.
Sunday, September 6th
Family Movie Night “Adventures of Shark boy and Lavagirl” Our last family movie night will take place at dusk (around 8 pm, or when it gets dark) These after-dark movie events are tons of fun for the kids and parents, so come down to the club and bring a lawn chair, sweatshirt, bug spray and snacks. Stay past dark and watch the last fun movie of the season! Free admission for members.
Pot Luck Wine, Cheese, Food and Friendship
During our last movie night the grown-ups are invited to enjoy some adult conversion and some good food. Just bring your favorite dish, a bottle of wine, or any other drink, some board games and your good spirit down to the Pavilion for the evening. There is no charge for this event.
Monday, September 7th
On Monday, Labor Day, all kids in grades K-5 are invited to join in games, music and short stories between the hours of 2:00pm and 3:00pm. At 3:00pm all adults are invited to join in a “Tug of War” Contest. This final day of the ‘09 NOB VALLEY Season will end at dusk.
NOB Valley Benefit Yard Sale Planned
( submitted by Karen Zahler )
A yard sale is being planned at NOB Valley in the fall to benefit the club. Our club is a non-profit organization and this event can help to raise some much-needed funds. If you are interested in getting rid of some stuff that’s been lying around your house or garage, and you would like to donate it to the yard sale, or if you are interested in buying a space to sell your own items, please contact Karen Zahler at karen@zahler.com. We are also in need of volunteers to help with the sale. We’ll need people for set-up, pricing, selling and breakdown. If this sale is successful, we are also considering doing another yard sale in the spring before the open houses for the next season.
What do you have to lose??
( submitted by Karen Zahler )
Anyone interested in participating in the off-season in a “Biggest Loser” contest? I need help in coordinating this event because I’ve never watched the TV show, but I know that other clubs or groups that have held a similar competition were very successful for the participants. Please express your interest to me at karen@zahler.com.
Four NOB VALLEY Board of Directors Seats Open
At the end of the current NOB Valley Season four Board of Directors Seats will become open. There are three seats with three-year terms and there is one seat with a two-year term attached. All interested parties should submit their intentions for the consideration of the Board to Bob Patten at Karbobpat89@aol.com no later than September 15th.
Clean-up Day: Volunteers Needed !
In the very near future a Saturday Clean-up Day will be planned at NOB VALLEY Swim Club. During this time all of the equipment and lawn chairs will be put into storage and the grounds and the pool will be cleared in preparation for the winter months. Volunteers are needed to ensure that the club is safely secured so that the equipment is in working order for the 2010 NOB VALLEY Season. You will be contacted shortly regarding the date that this will be done. If you are interested in working with us, or if you would like to chair the “Grounds Committee”, please contact Tom Scarpa at the club.
General Membership Meeting Date to Be Announced
As all of our members know, the Executive Board has been working to ensure that NOB VALLEY Swim Club will be in existence for many years to come. In order to keep the membership informed of the progress that is being made to meet this end a General Membership Meeting will be held in November. You will be contacted with the time and place of this meeting within the next several weeks. Please make every effort to attend this meeting. Election of Board Members, the “State of Nob Valley” and plans for the 2010 Season will be discussed.
Thank you Members!!!!!!
The Board of Directors of NOB VALLEY Swim Club would like to thank all of our members for their enthusiastic support during the ’09 Season of the NEW NOB VALLEY. The one thing that is very clear to us is that our membership is committed to continuing the NOB VALLEY Traditions well into the future.
